Read WDTC's Statement on
Anti-Asian Violence
The murders of eight people in Atlanta, Georgia, six of whom were of Asian descent, focused our attention on the recent dramatic rise in violence against Asians/Asian Americans and Pacific Islanders (AAPI).
This cannot be met with silence.
If you think these are events that could not possibly happen here in Wayland, you would be sadly mistaken. There have been several racially motivated incidents, attacks on our neighbors and friends who are people of color. We must speak out against such hatred.
The Wayland Democratic Town Committee unequivocally condemns hatred and violence against all races. We stand with our neighbors and friends, and loudly proclaim that what happened in Atlanta Georgia, and the incidents that happened here in Wayland - are wrong and do not represent our American values.
We will continue to speak out against hate and reach out to support those who have been harmed.
